 ProCalibre's Public MW2 Community Launches!
written by Reverence - 01.09.2010 - 09:19
Are you a casual Modern Warfare 2 player that just likes to hop on Ventrilo with a bunch of friendly players and game together; or are you a casual competitive player that just wants a group of players to pub and scrimmage with for fun? Then we have the perfect solution for you!

Thanks to the hard work of Candace "MizKitten/Girl" Kitchkeesick, our Modern Warfare 2 division has been flourishing and our application board has been filled with players that want to join the ProCalibre organization to play Modern Warfare 2 with us. After successfully building two highly competitive teams for Modern Warfare 2, our focus now shifts onto something new for the ProCalibre organization. For the first time ever we will be opening up recruitment to our Modern Warfare 2 division and invite any and all players that want to "tryout" and join. Each public player will still be held to the high standards that every competitive member of ProCalibre is held up to, but you will get to enjoy a membership to ProCalibre without the worry of playing competitively on your mind.

By joining our Modern Warfare 2 public division you will have the benefit of not only becoming a member of the ProCalibre community, but also the chance to play with other Modern Warfare 2 players and the opportunity to learn from some of our top competitive players. Whether you are a player that just wants to come online every few days and frag with us, or if you want to get together a few other members to scrimmage, then feel free to check out our public division.

If this is something that interests you then feel free to post an application in our forums and our Modern Warfare 2 Community Manager, MizKitten, will be in touch with you shortly after.

MizKitten Takes Over the Modern Warfare 2 Division
written by yay - 11.08.2010 - 19:36
For those of you that have not heard yet, B "Coldveins" F has stepped down from his position as the Modern Warfare 2 Game Manager position due to personal reasons; but we look forward to his return with the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Immediately following his resignation, Candace "MizKitten" Kitchkeesick has taken up the chance to take his place and will now be running the ProCalibre Modern Warfare 2 division. To start there will be only one Modern Warfare 2 team, as Canada MizKitten builds up the team, assuring that they are prepared for the top competitive leagues in the game. The team continues to practice (Monday-Thursday 8 pm EST.). They will also be continuing their run in the TeamWarfare Ladder and will soon be joining the Global Amateur Competitive League (GACGL).

With only months until the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops, it is going to be interesting to see if Modern Warfare 2 will survive or if the game’s supporters will move on. If so, we will look back and say the decision to remove dedicated servers and mod support severely hampered the games competitive community. Black Ops appears to have dedicated server support which could make it the perfect game for Call of Duty 4 the competitive community to move to. Black Ops faces a couple of issues, one being if Treyarch can optimize the game for the PC. Their previous game – Call of Duty: World at War – was poorly optimized and struggled to run on low-end and modest PCs. The optimization issues led to extremely poor gunplay which is why it did not fill that role the competitive community wanted – other issues included being a World War 2 shooter and that Call of Duty 2 played better.

Black Ops will be out soon, but until then the Modern Warfare 2 team pushes on with their new leader – MizKitten. Please join me in welcoming Canada MizKitten to her new position and wishing her the best of luck! We know that she has the dedication and professional stature to continue making the MW2 division a success picking up from where ColdVeins left off.

 ProCalibre Goes Above the Standards!
written by Reverence - 09.08.2010 - 17:12
Very few gaming organizations would exist without the backing of sponsors to help support and fund them. Behind every great organization are great sponsors that help to further the progress the team by providing for its needs; from servers, to hosting, to gaming fees, and more. Sponsors are what help the world of competitive gaming to happen. Unfortunately, good sponsors are few and far in between. Luckily, with the help of Yuska, our community manager, we have managed to get noticed by a brand new server company called Above the Standards.

Above the Standards is a company made up of gamers for gamers; allowing them to both understand and meet the expectations of the gamers that rent servers from them. In addition to their game servers, they also sell voice servers, dedicated server boxes, web hosting packages, and for those of you who belong to a larger gaming community, clan, or competitive team, they have clan packages at further discounted rates.

Being a new server company, they were looking for an up and coming competitive gaming organization to help launch their brand image and they thought that ProCalibre would be a good choice. After some technical details were worked out, it has been decided that ProCalibre has decided to go above the standard and is now an official sponsor of Above the Standards. They will be providing us with top of the line game servers, voice servers, and web hosting at no cost to the organization or any of it's players. We would like to thank the company for this opportunity to represent them in the gaming competitive community because we expect that both of our organizations have prosperous futures ahead of them.
